Is It Permissible?
In the thought experiment, you imagine that it is a universal law of nature. Not just that it's ok; that doesn't make it. A law of nature means this is actually a description and descriptor of how people act. So let's go back to the lying example. It's not that just everybody can lie: Everybody does, in fact, lie. And because everybody lies all the time, then nobody believes anybody elsetinfact, language itself breaks down. This makes it inconceivable that we could even have communication if everybody lied all the time. Or his example actually is about promise keeping, which, of course, is much more pecifi ranta.
