After the dissolution of land and freedom, the people's will devoted themselves to the assassination of the czar. They did not see this death as linked to a larger social struggle. The nihilists also held on to the belief that if their positive actions towards social change were so easily forwarded by the benevolence of the state, the negative action like assassination would more likely finally result in substantive changeto the system.
