Taiwan People's Party Chairman and Presidential Candidate, Kerwin Joe, Was in Japan This Week to Discuss Issues of Mutual Concern

Taiwan People's Party chairman and presidential candidate Kerwin Joe was in Japan this week. His comments about sovereignty of the Dowu Thai islands caused jaws to drop here in Taiwan. He said he has no plans to meet with China's Xi Jinping just for the sake of it, and that if such a meeting were to take place, there must be a clear aim for such talks. If elected president, he will ask Beijing to explain its interpretation of 1992 consensus.
