How Did You Design the Tech Tree in Slipways?

Slipways is an unbelievably minimalist game that functions fully as a minimalist game, but then expands into a rather not minimalist game by the end. The purpose of the tech tree in the game is to help the player fix the things that break their master plan. There are technologies that let you do more with existing planet types, like maybe fancy two way trads that are not normally possible. In slipways, it is very much deliberately designed to be something you want.
