The Origins of the Free Economic Society

The decemberists believed themselves to be representing the liberal spirit of the age in russia. The free economic society would become a kind of loose knit social and intellectual club that kept these types of people connected. And along with constitutional government, this idea of freeing the serfs became one of the most consistent themes of russian liberalism.
