R. Katz and All About Mummy Cats in Central Egypt
Mummy cats were discovered by an Egyptian phala, employed in husbandry. Every one of them had been separately embalmed and wrapped in cloth. The totem of a section of the ancients, as is well known, was the cat. These former deities were dug out of their resting place by hundreds of thousands. They were quickly sold to local farmers. Their lots found their way to an Alexandrian merchant,. who sent a liver pool on board the steamer, pharaohs, and thieves.
