Queen Victoria's Influence on Modern Funerals
Onlookers who didn't attend the service are also welcome to join the dancing and singing in the street. Black clothing was established as the dress code for the funerals following the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband. In some areas where it stays hot, New Orleans being one of those areas, I can't imagine wearing full length, multiple layers of black clothing.
