The Origins of the X-Files
The original I Want to Believe poster is now on display in TheSmithsonian.com. Chris Carter always felt his show was an entry point for people who were curious about the possibility of extraterrestrials. There really weren't any other female characters like her on TV at the time. Dana Scully influenced a generation of women to pursue careers in law enforcement and STEM, science technology, engineering, and medicine. According to a 2018 survey, 63 percent of women in STEM fields today cited Dana Scully as a role model.
