Baro was trying to convince his colleagues to save the monarchy. The Duchess of Orlean resolved to make a direct appeal to the Chamber of Deputies. She bundled up her two kids when the mob stood poised to ransack the palace, and she made her way on foot to the Palais-Borbon.
