Mastering a New Musical Instrument

If you're still in the early phases, then don't worry too much about the style. The style will develop itself more or less spon ously as you go out there and develop more mastery,. In fact, what i would say is to soak in all the different variety of styles that are there. Try them on for size. See what you like about one style, what you might not like about the other style. Once you're able to master something, that you are able to express very authentically without being self conscious about it. That's really the important thing.
