Blackwater Contractors and the Bush Administration
In 2004, 14 unarmed civilians were killed by Blackwater guards in Baghdad's Nissah Square. The incident didn't really sour the US on private contractors at all, let alone Blackwater. Just a few months after it, Blackwater was handed even more contracts worth over $300 million. In August 2019, almost 12 years after the massacre, the Blackwater guard who fired the first shot was sentenced to life in prison.
