The Role of Expertise in Teletherapy
The idea of who is an expert in cure or who gets to be the person who knows in treatment and how do you give that over to someone else. In mid century, there was this idea that suicide was a felony before many many people had experience of teletherapy. The hotline form first around the idea of suicidality but then later and basically every possible iteration connected people at a at a safe distance with a peer who had no power over them but could still help them. So what happens when help can be configured from a community within a community where no one has power over the other one? It turns out yes, right we've had lessons like that.
