Kissinger's political instincts and charm were sufficient to fend off an attempt. Reagan felt the spheres of influence that Kissinger had established with the Soviet Union were yeah, giving up the Eastern like blocked a communism. He also attacked Kissinger for negotiating with Panama's new government because Henry was willing to give the Panama canal back to the Panamanian people.
