The Prophet by Khalil Gibran is one of the most translated books in history. It was translated into over 100 languages and has never been out of print. The book could be read as though it's some religious, like spiritual experience where almost like Aurelius' meditations, every line is just resounding truth. Or you could read it cynically. And I've seen a lot of people read, review this book, and they've read it Cynically,. Like Rilka's Letters to a Young Poet. They'll see this book as a bunch of pretty sounding, but meaningless platitudes and soundbites and shit like that.
