The Double-Edged Sword

People are often reluctant to disclose things that they might be treated differently. There's this horrible kind of double-edged sword where we need to know more information in order to provide the right support and make sure that we don't expose people to inappropriate tasks or materials. But at the same time simply asking for that information can be quite traumatizing for some people. It can cause a lot of mental discomfort because people are potentially worried about being discriminated against just because of the disclosure of a past history.
