Cortes and the Tlashkalans Fought a Mighty Mesika.
Cortes thought the tlashcalans would welcome him with open arms, but instead they put up an enormous resistance. Many of his men were injured and a few even killed. The spaniards retreated to the top of a nearby volcano called some pachtepetal where a small meshika shrine had been built to the gods. They camped next day's fought off con ant attacks by the tlashkalans who refused all offers of peace. But after three days and nights of repelling attacks, the tlash calan sent messengers to ask for peace. After this, luck finally began to turn in cortez's favor.
