You Know, I've Come From a Musical House

I grew up in Poway, Penisquito area of San Diego. I come from a very musical household, but not of musicians. My paternal grandmother was a classical pianist and a music teacher. But she and I didn't have much of a relationship. She never taught me music. Both my parents, while not being musicians, love music. And I grew up listening to all different kinds of music. From a young age, I wasn't thinking about genres. I just thought of things as music. You don't happen like music you've heard music you haven't heard yet. It's this artificial construct that society and, and the record industry and radio puts on us.
