People support these policies because, for the most part, zero covid has allowed china's economy to open up much sooner than any other economy. Even at its highest, the number of new cases a day was around a hundred. Thereis no immediate indication that china wants to lift these restrictions this year.
China’s 1.4 billion people are averaging fewer than 100 cases of Covid-19 a day. All it takes is the willingness to shut down anything at any time.
