It's Casual Friday! Emma speaks with Kyle Kulinski, co-host of the Kyle Kulinski Show & Krystal Kyle and Friends, to round up the week in news. First, Emma runs through updates on growing famine in Gaza as winter nears, Israel’s land grab in Syria, Trump’s threat to Iran, Trump’s advisors, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pelosi’s undermining of AOC’s Oversight committee bid, RFK’s newest vaccine objection (polio), Trump’s banking deregulation agenda, and Macron’s newest centrist PM, before watching Peter Thiel sputter through a defense of the US healthcare system and the (former) UnitedHealthcare CEO. Kyle Kulinski then joins as he reflects on Nancy Mace’s complex and intersectional relationship with the bathroom, Democrats’ willingness to capitulate to and embrace Trump’s fascist scapegoating of trans people and immigrants, and the importance of actually acknowledging your constituents’ issues in winning elections. Kyle and Emma also tackle the absurd narrative about Trump and the GOP’s right-wing populism, parsing particularly through the facade of Trump’s anti-war persona before touching on the pseudo-populism of RFK’s relationship with Big Pharma. Wrapping up, they unpack the state of “independent” media, the growing embrace of far-right lunacy as long as it comes with a billionaire’s backing, and the need for the Democratic party to look left for success.

And in the Fun Half: Emma unpacks the tension around the humanitarian crisis in the US-backed Al-Hol detention center in Syria with Owen from LA, The Letterhack previews his show with Ronald Raygun tonight, and Juliet from Portland gives Emma a lesson in AGP.
