Atalth was ticked off by the actions of Jovianus' court. So he sent a message down to Constantius, saying: Hey, it turns out I don't like these guys any more than you do,. so let's say we join forces and whack them back into the Stone Age. The two sides faced off at some indeterminate location in central Gaul; Goths carried the day. Atalth followed up his victory by laying siege to JovianUS at Valentia in south central Gaul.
