I like the idea of creating a character, having a central character that almost can exist. I think there's aspects of her personality that would be impossible to be in one person. How could she have the secrecy of Flourgégy, but also the kind of bombastic performative nature of David Bowie, but in the same person? You embed her in what seems to me a very convincing 20th century art scene. She's hanging out with David Bowie. She's squabbling with Susan Sontag, which made me laugh.You write about that world, both fondly and humorously. There's just so many different people working in so many different ways in that time period
