The Purification of Idolatry

The purpose of suspicion from a believer's point of view, the religious uses of modern atheism would be to try to purify our faith of the idolatry that contaminate even the most orthodox orthodoxy. I think there are ideas of race and gender as well as class that are relevant here. nationalism can create a kind of idolatry and almost always does when it's virulent. The media mentality, it seems to me is not innocent. And if it becomes the tale that wags the dog of faith then you have something to worry about.
