The Utility Sector and the Utility Regulator Role

Bob Greene: I sometimes feel like a broken record bringing these issues up because I do see them as some of the most complex and important issues. He says utilities have a very important role to play in achieving electrification or transportation in the United States. Even if they are not involved in funding charging stations, we'll talk about that in a second. The really interesting policy question is how does that work? Is it what's called a make ready investment where the utility just kind of pays for site)? Or do they take a more direct role providing charging station services? Lots of different views on the appropriate role.
