I wasn't in number 10. I was looking in from the outside thinking, how could they? The prime minister lost his own mother and couldn't have a proper funeral. Virtually everyone in number 10 got COVID. Some of them got it badly. They all know someone who died. We are so perceived that a piece of cake being brought into a meeting that was happening anyway is then deemed to be one word that somebody used last night, sickening. That anger, that raw anger is entirely understandable. But sometimes when we express the same level of outrage about every single incident, we show that we've lost the plot.
