In the universe, there is no future boundary condition. But purposeful agents can be thought of as carrying a little mini future boundary condition with them. I think that to me is going back to our earlier point about action and adaptation to agents. No doubt we could build models where you, in some sense, accumulate bits of information that allow you to encode a path.
