The Three Ends of Carnism
Melanie saw this basic three end model playing out over and over again in oppression over historical periods. Believing in these three ends does not necessarily mean that men didn't care about their wives, just like it doesn't mean that humans don't care about farmed animals. What it means is that we feel justified in maintaining their subordinate position. And when they, in the case of women, when they speak out about it, we feel justify in devaluing their perceptions.
