I felt that I had become, you know, so abstract, and that we were living in a particular world where sort of abstract thinkings are rewarded. In order to inoculate myself against that, I needed to take the migrant journey, at least a tiny part of it myself in order to understand it. And then there's almost a Hegelian story, which I felt in this, writing this book. One of the moments that didn't make it into the book bits with me as an narrator, but did make it into, thanks to Josh Glensy, our mutual friend and journalist and editor at the Sunday Times.
