The Effect of Altruism Movement
A lot of people think about charitable giving in terms of their identity and certain types of causes that move them personally. But the selection of the cause itself tends not to be driven by any desire to maximize good, or what philosophers call utility. There's even evidence that most people regard those who donate money on objective analysis rather than subjective preferences as morally deficient. I support the effect of altruism movement but it's really important to include the customer, the human side of this too.
