Jules verne: Can i take that as a person trying to write about science fiction? I wouldn't want to make the value of speculative fiction too dependent upon that kind of ansillary role in relation to scientific understanding. One can in telling a story by saying, oh, no, it's really valuable because it gives us ideas that can turn out down stream to have scientific importance. They might. Butbutbut i don't want to tie too much of the justification of the practice and the activity to something like that. It has its own, i think it has its own cultural importance.
