Is There a Dilemma Between the Sign and the Sign Signified?

Calvin says there is a distinction between the sign and the thing signified. If i have faith, i will commune with the body and blood of christ in the supper according to calvinism. But if i don't have faith, I don't actually receive the body andBlood of Christ. So that divorce then happens later. We would say, yes, they do receive it and reject it because they've rejected faith. That doesn't change the objective validity of what god has done and what the sacrament is dets. It's not dependent on my faith but God's promise itself. Faith is created by the promise which we take as our own.
