The Pros and Cons of Cash Bail Reform in New York

In New York State, which is now currently being rolled back, we decided that we weren't going to require cash bail for non-violent felonies and for misdemeanors. But do you know what happens when people are held in Rikers, for example, in a pre-detention center? How many deaths have happened there before they're even convicted of a crime?
