The Importance of Compensation in Energy Supply

Government should create a publicly owned energy supply company, says Lord Tebbit. It means that government doesn't have to be wasting its money on supporting companies that are failing because the market's collapsing. But it also gives government a lever to do something about planning over time and making sure that households aren't being hit too hard when we have a crisis like the current one. In France, the government has said it's absolutely vital that EDF takes the hit rather than households taking the hit.
