CHAPTER

The Importance of Redistribution in Political Equality

The first principle, the principle of liberal freedom, is itself inherently redistributive. It requires certain goods to be much more fairly or evenly or equally distributed than they are in most liberal democratic societies. I think Rawls is very clear that we need to limit private donations and have some kind of public system for funding political parties. One of the ideas that I put forward in my book is a democracy voucher system where you would give every citizen an equal amount of money per election  and allow them to give that to the party of their choice.
