In Japan, there is definitely a preference for native speakers. Yelena: It's just crazy how, and the same thing, native speakers will get paid much more in the school than non native speakers. And my sister-in-law, who's Japanese and wants to be an English teacher, is experiencing that right now. She would not get paid the same as me, even though she has more experience or knows exactly what it takes.
