The Importance of Inflammation in Hip Pain

After running his first 100-mile race in 2014, he started noticing hip pain. He was diagnosed with a hip impingement and told that he'd likely need to go have the surgery where you shave down and kind of reshape your hip so that it's not catching. An MRI also caught an issue with his lower back which led doctors to realize they were looking at something more serious: transitional vertebrae fusion. "I don't consider myself very old because I'm still playing around with what's going to work for me," Runners World founder says.
