The Effects of Acid-Base Reactions

Strong acids disassociate into a large number of ions in the solution, therefore, it's going to be a fairly strong electrolyte. A weak acid will not carry a current so well, because it won't disassociate into as many charged ions. The strength of an acid depends upon the size of the attractive force between the hydrogen and the conjugate base. We can talk about this in terms of bases as well, and it doesn't change very much from there.
