Gene Seymour: The focus protection was, I think, a very well chosen term that was floated initially and put out there by the Great Barrington Declaration of which Jay Bhattacharya, Professor at Stanford, was one of the key signatures. He says it's essentially that you can focus on those people who do need badly to be protected. And then the case, as Jay would argue, in the case of pandemics we have, there really is a population that needs to be protected and you want to leave the rest alone. "I will be moderating the debate, however, I will be doing it in a neutral fashion," he adds.
