The Nature Poetry of John Hopkins - Pied Beauty

Hopkins wants to celebrate the specificity of the natural world. The nature poetry is in part that sort of reconciliation between God and the worldly for Hopkins. Some of it functions as a form of prayer, really, or asa form of praise - so pied beauty. It's one of my favourites. Glory be to God for dappled things,. for skies of couple colour as a branded cow, for rose moles all in stipple upon trout that swim, fresh fire cold chestnut falls, finches wings, landscape plotted and pieced, fold fallow and plow, and their gear and tackle and trim.
