X-Ray Crystallography - The Most Important Scientific Method of the Modern Era

In the early 20th century, a technique called x-ray crystallography was invented. It involves bouncing x-rays off of crystals to figure out their structure. And so we began to be able to understand the shapes of complex molecules like proteins. Using this technique, we now have images that can see right down to the scale of atoms and molecules.
