As wars between splinter states raged on across the region, timbuck too was repeatedly be siged and captured. Many of the city's great scholars were kidnapped and sold as slaves. His sorrow at the destruction that he witnessed during his life is what inspired him to write his masterpiece. He writes that he hopes his chronicle will inspire future generations to remember these days of greatness.
