The Effects of General Anesthesia on Pain Transmission

Is there a reason to give opiate to a patient under general anesthesia? When you could control the vital sign abnormalities another way. You have the decoupling of the consciousness so you're not going to have conscious manifestations of pain there. There is some suggestion that there is some need to actually mitigate the central nervous system effects that happen with the No-susceptive input and the transmission along that way That would be missed by simply just responding to someone's reduction in heart rate.
