No Response, No Response

Nick's eyes flitted behind his half moon spectacles to the christmas tree. The shiny baubles were swaying and turning ever so slightly, as if something had disturbed them a moment ago. He could try again to morrow, searching different regions of the hotel, but that approach could literally take forever. Nick flipped through the pages of the doscier, then stopped to human ears. Something in the corner of the room had just moved. That should have been conclusive, but nick wasn't stupid. And whatever it was, it had to be powerful old magic, that or something entirely new under the sun.
