The 15-minute city is based on more than a century of related thinking, stretching back through the 1800s. People got pissed off because they thought that would just increase gentrification. The Parisian mayor made it like a core tenant of her reelection campaign in 2020. More than 100 mayors that are part of this group called the C40 adopted it as a way to recover from the pandemic.
