The Challenge of Partially Agonizing the Opioid Receptor
Buprenorphine unlike methadone is a partial agonist at the new opioid receptor. It can be potentially less potent in terms of managing withdrawal symptoms and cravings. The third medication that I'll mention is naltrexone, which does not yet have clear evidence of overdose mortality prevention.
