When we see correlations between two variables, A and B, most people assume it's cause and effect. But when you start to think, one doesn't cause the other, what we know is they are very much bidirectional. All of the mental disorders have strong bi-directional relationships with all the other mental disorders. And I throw in some neurological disorders like epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease. It suggests that there is some common factor or pathway upstream from all of these different disorders that might be playing a role in the etiologythese disorders.
