Memory Reconsolidation - The Meta Pattern

The meta pattern has four steps, kind of just like memory reconsolidation. This is the way that we can actually take a moment, a memory, and give it a massive update. So when you say, how do you want to feel instead, and you want to cultivate a different emotion, it's much easier to get a good quality answer if the person is not still stuck in a negative emotion. In order to do the meta pattern, what we typically will do is dissociate from the emotion, right? Dissociate from the negative emotional state. Now the memory is still malleable for about five hours.
