Netflix and HBO's Playbook
HBO had this attitude that came about in the 2000s, which we call the HBO shrug. They would really spend anything they wanted to on programming if they wanted it to drive other competitors out of the market. And so I don't see why it was so likely that somebody who was burning DVDs and sending them out was going to invent House of Cards or the Irishman.
