What Is the Basic Renal Physiology?
The functional unit of the kidney is the nephron. The filtrate that goes through there is incredibly high, right? A normal GFR called a hundred cc's per minute. And somewhere between 95 and 99% of that water is going to be reabsorbed. Then you have the distal convoluted tubule,. This is where you start to add a lot of intelligence to the kidney. You get, again, additional reabsorption of sodium and water, but this is more finely controlled. Right? We've all been tubules before their proximal tubule, loop of Henley, distal convoluted Tubule.
