This week i'm joined by aron benanov, an economic historian and social theorist. In recent years there's been a lot of discussion about how automation is purportedly destroying jobs around the world but especially in the west. Aaron digs into the economic data and finds that's not actually what's occurring. If we 're going to change the world, then we needt actually have an inspiring vision of what it is that we want to build. We have to convince people that that is not just a fairy tale.

Paris Marx is joined by Aaron Benanav to discuss why jobs are getting worse because the economy’s slowing down, not because technology is speeding up, and why that requires a vision of post-scarcity centered around human relationships instead of technological change.
