The Trump Trial: A Weird Case

The Trump's trial started this week in Manhattan. E. Jean Carroll, who is a she's a magazine writer, she was an advice columnist. She alleged in 2019 that she had been raped by Trump in the middle of Burgdorff Goodman on Fifth Avenue. He responded to all of this and said, well, this is a hope. This is a lie. And so then she filed another suit against him for defamation. It's kind of a perfect little encapsulation of the dynamic that we were just talking about with defamation generally and with like freedom of the press, right?
